i have an 8 week old chihuahua puppy and in the last few hours she has become lethargic. i gave her some karo syrup because i know their blood sugar can get low, but that didnt help. she is responsive but she wont get up or walk. nothing is actually hurt on her though. we dont have a vet here that is open at night. i need some advice.

I have an indoor chihuahua who could care less when she hears it but my two outdoor dogs cry and howl like crazy when they hear it.

its the sound of the siren.

Howling is not exclusive to dogs; it’s hard to forget the lonely cry of the wolf. Wolves and other pack animals do use howling, and although it sounds sad and lonely, it often serves another purpose. Because wolves and dogs both have very keen hearing, a howl can be heard from far away, and wolves use this as a form of communication and location. A howl can send up a signal that says “I’m here!” and the respondent howl of other wolves is a reply of “We’ve over here!”

When dogs howl at sirens, they may very well be expressing this instinctual behavior too. Some sirens sound like the faraway howl of a dog (at least to other dogs), and the dog may merely be being helpful by sending up a response. One howl often leads to another, which is why you may hear a whole neighborhood of dogs howling in response.

We just adopted 2 of the cutest puppies – great dane mixes. One is black and white, the other is grey and white marbled. Since it’s 4th of July we thought names that have to do with the holiday would be fun. Any ideas?

ive noticed that if you get a bone from the butchers they get very protective over it , it seems to turn on some natural instinct buttons . Why is this ?
my rott completely changes with them , and despite having him for awhile 4 years he does get a bit of a mean look in his eyes , i luv it lol
now his brother who is a junkyard dog gets dangerous with them but then that dog is pure guard dog

Sho me pride mastiffs put it perfectly, about the hamburger and T-bone.

Those bones from the butcher are a real treat and I’m sure any dog will do anything to make sure that no one tries to steal it from him. We had a Lhasa that would hide them in and under the couch. One time we found 20 or so when we moved the couch to vacuum. He was horrified.
