I have an indoor chihuahua who could care less when she hears it but my two outdoor dogs cry and howl like crazy when they hear it.
its the sound of the siren.
Howling is not exclusive to dogs; it’s hard to forget the lonely cry of the wolf. Wolves and other pack animals do use howling, and although it sounds sad and lonely, it often serves another purpose. Because wolves and dogs both have very keen hearing, a howl can be heard from far away, and wolves use this as a form of communication and location. A howl can send up a signal that says “I’m here!” and the respondent howl of other wolves is a reply of “We’ve over here!”
When dogs howl at sirens, they may very well be expressing this instinctual behavior too. Some sirens sound like the faraway howl of a dog (at least to other dogs), and the dog may merely be being helpful by sending up a response. One howl often leads to another, which is why you may hear a whole neighborhood of dogs howling in response.
my three current dogs dont care, but my stolen toy fox terrier used to do it all the time. I miss him

The most important thing is for the cat to have a place to escape to. A spare bedroom, your bedroom, actually any room with a closed door would work well, even a closet. If your able to put a cat door in that would work best to keep the dogs and the toddler from chasing the cat. If not, a way to keep the door open enough for the cat to get through but child and dogs out will work. Second most important thing is to never, ever leave kitty and baby alone together. Toddlers dont understand the concept of being gentle and kitty’s will react badly if their tail is suddenly yanked.

everytime my dogs hear a noise outside they go crazy, if someone comes in the door the jump and bark and are uncontrollable what is a good way to get them to act calmer so i dont have to lock them up when i have visitors?
you have to make them understand this is unexceptable behavior. i crate my gang b/c they out number me when some one comes. now when they hear the door they run for their crates lol ! so cute. but better than swarming the guest. (they are great danes !)i always treat for good jobs ! also you can try leashing and insisting on the SIT at the sound of the door. you need to be in control or it wont work. to gain control make them ALL sit for everything they get .

im just a little curious if a police dog will go crazy if they smell a hemo bracelet.
First, not all Police dogs are trained for drugs. You can have tracking and apprehension dogs. These dogs are sometimes crosstrained for detection work, which could be drugs, bombs, ammunition, etc. Then you can have just straight detection dogs.
Second, not all drug dogs "go crazy" when they detect the scent they are trained to find. They can be trained with a passive indicator, such as sitting when the scent is located.
As for hemp bracelets, no, it will not. They way it is processed will change the scent of the material.
As for the person who said that dogs are only trained for one drug, many drug dogs are trained to detect a variety of drugs, not just one.
