Because many pet stores get their animals from puppy mills. Puppy mills are horrible places were dogs are mistreated and abused, so Peta is obviously against them. And buying dogs from pet stores is funding puppy mills.

they aren’t being annoying. most puppies bought in pet stores are from puppy mills where people mass produce puppies not for quality but quantity. PETA is trying to stop these places, as they should be. these dogs, especially the breeding ones, have terrible lives and these places should be made illegal.

Troll or not — if PETA are doing that – then at least they’ve got something right.

well PETA is against pet ownership as a while anyways.

But you should NEVER buy a petshop puppy. Petshops obtain puppies from puppy mills. Purchasing one only encourages this terrible practice.

Peta should do more.Puppy mills a cruel inhuman conditions,no one should purchase a pet like groceries.Animals have rights that should be protected at all costs.Animal ownership should not be made on a whim.Thought should go into choosing the right breed, and then right puppy. You should meet the breeder and see the parents, see how the puppy was bred and raised and learn of any possible health issues the bloodline might have.

cos those poor puppies normally come from puppy mills, google puppy mills and then you will see how horrible those places are the dogs are kept in cramped cages and they are used only for breeding they have no life no socilizing, the don’t get to play with toys. also the puppies are taken away way too early from their mothers and litter mates just so those cruel people can breed the poor bi**hes again and again.

It’s one of the few things I can agree with PETA doing.

Supporting puppymills from buying at a pet store is wrong. You aren’t "saving" them. You’re putting money in the pockets of the people who put them there. That’s not saving a damn thing.

    Even PETA knows that . . .

I hate peta with a passion, but they do have a good thing on the buying puppies. Lemme give it to you straight:

Puppies were purchased from puppy mills. Not sure what that is? It’s a terribly awful thing. Dogs are kept in cramped and small wire-floor cages and are forced to breed every heat cycle. The day the dam or sire are no longer able to breed, they’re killed, usually inhumanely. In fact, it’s usually a bullet or drowning. Bullet is better then drowning or electocution, but they don’t deserve it. The dogs aren’t checked for genetic defects, and pass along terrible things that could be avoided with testing. The puppies are also sold to people who don’t know what they’re doing.

A responsible breeder only breeds once a year/every other year, preferably every other. Their dogs are kept in the best conditions and have proved themselves in the show ring, earning a title in which to pass on to his or her puppies. They’re also screened for genetic defects that may be passed on. Once they can no longer breed, they’re kept as pets or passed on to permenant homes.

Seriously? Just in case you’re not an idiot trolling (and I think you are), it’s because pet stores buy their dogs from puppymills that keep their dogs in filthy, dangerous conditions and provide inadequate (or NO) shelter, inadequate (or NO) vet care, and provide inadequate food and space. Only the cruelest of people would supply pet stores with puppies, and only the cruelest would support these breeding practices by purchasing from a pet store.
